Liege Airport reported another year of double-digit cargo growth in 2025, with volumes up 14 per cent to 1.3 million tonnes, reports London's Air Cargo News.

The Belgian hub said the increase was the strongest among the 10 largest European cargo airports. It follows a 15.6 per cent rise in 2024 and marks Liege's second busiest year on record, behind 2021's Covid-driven 1.4 million tonnes.

Aircraft movements totalled 36,979, slightly below 2024, but cargo flights rose six per cent to 28,822. December volumes climbed 16 per cent year on year to 119,742 tonnes.

The airport noted a continued shift to daytime operations, which accounted for 65.5 per cent of flights compared with 41 per cent in 2020. Officials said daytime flying helps address noise complaints.

Liege attributed growth to strong e-commerce imports and resilient European exports. In June, the airport announced plans to invest EUR500 million (US$581 million) in its CargoLand hub, scheduled for completion in 2040.

The airport also secured a new service win, with Suparna Airlines adding flights to Chongqing at the start of the year.
