Beijing has asked Chinese technology companies to suspend purchases of Nvidia's H200 chips this week, reported Reuters, citing people familiar with the matter.

The directive comes as the government weighs whether, and under what conditions, to permit access to Nvidia's high-performance processors.

Officials are expected to push domestic artificial intelligence chip use, discouraging firms from stockpiling US hardware before a final decision is made.
