Chile's Iquique Terminal Internacional (ITI), run by Hanseatic Global Terminals, ended 2025 with a record throughput of more than 424,000 TEU, 21 per cent above its forecast, reported London's Port Technology International.

The terminal, near Peru and Bolivia, also handled 3.3 million tonnes, marking 33 per cent growth compared with the previous year. The increase was driven by new services Chancay Express and Alpaca, stronger export flows, improved logistics coordination and new equipment including eight reach stackers and two mobile harbour cranes.

ITI said its 2026 priorities include raising efficiency, productivity and service quality, enhancing safety, adopting new technologies and expanding into the Bolivian market, while maintaining sustainability goals.

General manager Rodrigo Pommiez said the milestone reflected staff commitment, customer trust and collaboration across the logistics chain. He added that despite challenges, planning and teamwork had delivered historic results that encourage further growth.

In December, Hanseatic Global Terminals signed a deal with Imetame Group to acquire a 50 per cent stake in Imetame Logistica Porto, a joint venture focused on container terminal operations.
