Turkey's Aygaz has signed a contract with South Korea's HD Hyundai Samho for the construction of a dual fuel very large gas carrier, reported Denmark's Shipping Telegraph.

The agreement was concluded on January 15 for a 93,000 cbm class LPG carrier, designed to run on both LPG and fuel oil. Delivery is scheduled for the second quarter of 2028, with the vessel intended for LPG trading and transport.

The 52,000-ton VLGC is expected to support global decarbonisation efforts in maritime transport. Aygaz general manager Melih Poyraz said the dual fuel technology will enable lower emissions and more efficient operations.

Once delivered, the new vessel will join Aygaz's fleet, which currently includes Beykoz, Beylerbeyi, Kuzguncuk and Bebek. The company, founded in 1961, remains Turkey's only fully integrated LPG operator, managing procurement, storage, filling, production and the sale of LPG-fuelled devices.
