    Fraport airports post growth in '25

    Frankfurt Airport handled 63.2 million passengers in 2025, up 2.6 per cent year-on-year, while overall traffic across Fraport's portfolio rose 5.3 per cent to 183.7 million, reported the American Journal of Transportation.


    European traffic at Frankfurt grew 3.7 per cent, with Southern and Southeastern Europe up 6.4 per cent. Czechia rose 21.8 per cent and Norway 10.4 per cent. Intercontinental traffic increased 0.6 per cent, with Thailand up 35.4 per cent. Flights to Israel and Lebanon resumed, boosting Middle East traffic by 40.4 per cent and 34.6 per cent respectively.

    Frankfurt served 301 destinations in 96 countries via 94 airlines. Cargo volumes rose 1.1 per cent to 2.1 million tonnes, while aircraft movements climbed 4.4 per cent to 460,272. Maximum takeoff weights increased 2.5 per cent to 28.5 million tonnes.

    December traffic at Frankfurt reached 4.8 million passengers, up 5.3 per cent. Cargo volumes rose 2.6 per cent to 173,610 tonnes, while aircraft movements increased 4.2 per cent to 34,711.

    Fraport's international airports also posted gains. Ljubljana grew 10.6 per cent to 1.6 million passengers. Fortaleza and Porto Alegre in Brazil surged 43.2 per cent to 13.7 million passengers after flood disruptions in 2024. Lima set a record with 25.5 million passengers, up 4.1 per cent.

    Regional airports in Greece rose 3.0 per cent to 37.1 million passengers. Burgas and Varna in Bulgaria grew 10.4 per cent to 3.7 million passengers. Antalya set a record with 39.0 million passengers, up 2.3 per cent.

    Fraport chief executive Stefan Schulte said international operations drove growth, though Germany remains behind European peers in recovery. He urged further government measures to ease burdens on the aviation sector.
