Turkish Airlines has signed a comprehensive ground handling contract with Vienna Airport, strengthening a partnership that dates back nearly 65 years, reported the American Journal of Transportation.
The five-year agreement runs until 2030 and covers all services from passenger care to baggage and aircraft handling. Turkish Airlines currently operates five daily flights between Vienna and Istanbul, one of Europe's major aviation hubs.
Vienna Airport joint chief executive Julian Jager said the decision showed confidence in the quality and reliability of its services. He noted Vienna is among Europe's most punctual hubs thanks to efficient processes and strong ground handling teams.
Turkish Airlines Austria general manager Serkan Ozbuyukyoruk said the deal was a strategic enabler of reliability and service excellence, reinforcing the carrier's commitment to premium aviation standards through 2030.
Vienna Airport senior vice president Michael Zach said Turkish Airlines' focus on quality matched the airport's performance orientation, ensuring smooth operations at a consistently high level.
More than half a million passengers fly with Turkish Airlines via Vienna each year. The carrier also provides significant cargo capacity through belly freight on passenger flights, supporting global air freight connectivity.
Vienna Airport offers full-scope ground handling services including passenger support, ramp handling, catering logistics, aircraft cleaning, baggage handling, de-icing and freight handling. Its facilities include temperature-controlled cargo areas for pharmaceuticals.
