Maastricht Aachen Airport reported a 40 per cent rise in air freight volumes in 2025, handling 41,636 tonnes of cargo, reported London's Cargo Airport & Airline Services.

The Dutch airport also processed 159,270 passengers and recorded 7,549 aircraft movements, including 1,737 cargo flights and 994 passenger flights. Cargo volumes were up from 28,448 tonnes in 2024.

The increase followed a dip in 2023 during a EUR35 million (US$40.6 million) runway renovation. Head of commercial development Dean Boljuncic said growth was driven by investment in cargo handling facilities, including redevelopment of AnimalPort and a partnership with FlowerWatch to modernise perishable cargo operations.

Maastricht Aachen Airport announced at the end of 2024 a strategy to expand freight, targeting 200,000 tonnes by 2030. In 2025, it appointed its first cargo sales executive to strengthen its role as a specialist regional hub.
