Huawei Technologies has strengthened its position in the foldable smartphone market with the global launch of the Mate X7, reported the South China Morning Post.

The Mate X7, released in China last month, was rolled out globally at an event in Dubai. The device features a 5,600mAh battery with a heat-dissipation system, promising all-day battery life, the company said.

The launch comes ahead of Apple's expected foldable iPhone and follows Samsung Electronics' announcement of its first trifold smartphone.

Huawei held nearly 70 per cent of China's foldable market in the first three quarters of this year, according to IDC. The research firm said Huawei's HarmonyOS foldables are projected to grow their global market share to 17 per cent in 2026 from 11 per cent in 2025.
