Greek conglomerate V Group has signed contracts for two 1,930-TEU containerships from Guangzhou Wenchong Shipyard, marking its debut in boxship ownership, reports Singapore's Splash 247.

The Piraeus-based group, led by Vyron Vasileiadis, is best known for operations in port reception facilities, emergency response, decontamination services, and waste-to-fuel technology. It is entering liner shipping through a newly formed unit called OceanV.

The order covers two Bangkokmax vessels for delivery in late 2028 and early 2029, with options for two additional sister ships. Conventionally powered, ships of this class are typically priced at about US$30 million each.

Splash noted that V Group's move reflects a broader trend of Greek tanker and bulker owners diversifying into the containership market.
