Saudi Arabia's Zamil Offshore Services Company has entered the Norwegian offshore market with the purchase of Remoy Shipping for an undisclosed amount, reported Singapore's Splash 247.

The deal also covers Rem Stadt and RS Crewing, securing the future of Remoy Shipping after more than 100 years under family ownership. Established in 1899, the firm has grown from fishing into offshore services with eight PSVs, a naval vessel and a range of commercial and crewing operations.

Remoy's owners said the sale followed a review of long-term needs and market challenges, concluding that new capital and an industrial partner were required. Several bidders showed interest, but Zamil Offshore was chosen for its financial strength and experience in offshore energy.

Zamil Offshore, one of the largest offshore service providers in the Middle East, has supported Saudi Arabia's oil and gas industry since 1977. Its fleet now exceeds 60 vessels, including PSVs, construction units, diving support and accommodation ships, many on long-term charter with Saudi Aramco.

Chief executive Sufyan Al Zamil said the acquisition marked a milestone as the company expands beyond the Middle East. He said Remoy Shipping had a long and successful history and expressed confidence in future growth with its team.

For Remoy Shipping, the transaction offers continuity and expansion in a demanding offshore market. Under Zamil Offshore's ownership, the company will remain based in Norway and part of the maritime cluster while pursuing new opportunities in offshore energy. The Remoy Group said the move strengthens the platform for long-term development.
