Chicago-based freight forwarder AIT Worldwide Logistics has launched its first office in Jakarta to meet rising demand for logistics expertise in Southeast Asia, reported London's Air Cargo News.

Indonesia becomes the eighth country in the AIT-Asia network. The new office will focus on air and ocean imports and exports, offering customized multimodal solutions for industrial, technology and telecommunications sectors.

Chief strategy officer Greg Weigel said Jakarta is a pivotal market for AIT's Asia expansion. He noted the office will provide localized, high-quality services while tapping into regional opportunities.

The Jakarta facility is overseen by Tony Tong, vice president operations, Asia Pacific, reporting to senior vice president Wilson Lee.

Mr Lee said the team will provide value-added services including inter-island delivery, customs clearance and white glove handling. He added that solutions are tailored to Indonesia's key industries such as petroleum, natural gas, textiles and mining.

The office is located near two international airports and Jakarta Bay. Certified gold by Indonesia's Green Building Council, it joins more than 150 AIT locations worldwide.
