Norway's MPC Container Ships has signed a US$232 million deal for four 4,500-TEU vessels in China, reports Singapore's Splash 247. The Oslo-listed company said deliveries from Jiangsu Hantong Ship Heavy Industry will start in the first half of 2028.

Each ship is priced at $58 million, with options secured for two more at the same level. The quartet will operate on 10-year charters with a leading global liner, generating an estimated $375 million in revenue and $242 million in EBITDA over the initial period.

MPCC said the vessels were designed jointly with the charterer to meet network demands and efficiency targets. They will feature energy-saving technologies that reduce slot costs by about 50 per cent compared with similar ships in the current fleet.

Financing will be covered through a mix of equity and debt, keeping the company's capital structure intact. Chief Executive Constantin Baack said the deal reflects momentum in MPCC's fleet renewal strategy, noting that 10 newbuildings with attached charters have been secured this year.

The latest order follows a July agreement for four ships of the same size at $57 million each and an October purchase of two 1,600 TEU vessels priced at US$33 million apiece.
