The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA) has appointed Roos Bakker as chairwoman, succeeding Steven Polmans at the Air Cargo Forum 2025 in Abu Dhabi, reported London's Air Cargo Week.

Ms Bakker, manager of business development and contract management at ICTS Europe, brings extensive experience in aviation operations, business development and security. A graduate of the University of Amsterdam, she is recognised for driving efficiency and fostering partnerships across the aviation ecosystem.

"TIACA serves as a vital platform for collaboration, knowledge-sharing and innovation," Ms Bakker said. "I look forward to working with members and partners worldwide to advance the air cargo industry and shape a sustainable, connected future."

The association also named Emir Pineda, Director of Marketing and Air Service Development at Miami-Dade Aviation Department, and Tushar Jani, Chairman of Cargo Service Centre Group, as Co-Vice Chairs.

Pineda has more than 30 years' experience in air service development and global trade facilitation, with leadership roles at DFW International Airport, Air France/KLM Martinair and Cargolux. Jani, a co-founder of Blue Dart Express and Blue Dart Aviation, has over 40 years' experience in logistics and aviation and has helped shape India's logistics policy framework.

Outgoing chairman, Mr Polmans said it was an honour to serve TIACA and expressed confidence in Ms Bakker's leadership. Director general Glyn Hughes praised Mr Polmans for guiding the association through a six-year transformation programme and said the new leadership team would strengthen TIACA's role as the global voice of air cargo.
