FedEx will cut 856 jobs in Coppell, Texas, as it closes a logistics facility by April after a major customer moved business to another provider, reported New York's FreightWaves. The layoffs will begin in January and continue in phases.
The company said the closure of FedEx Supply Chain Logistics & Electronics' Coppell site is permanent, with operations expected to end by April 29, 2026. Coppell lies about 21 miles northwest of downtown Dallas.
FedEx said employees were notified in advance and some may qualify for other roles. The company added it will provide job placement assistance, relocation aid or severance packages.
The Coppell cuts follow other reductions in North Texas, including 305 layoffs at a Fort Worth facility in May and 131 at sites in Garland and Plano in June.
Logistics and manufacturing employers nationwide have faced widespread job losses in recent months, pressured by trade policies, facility closures, electric vehicle market slowdowns and shifting consumer demand that continue to strain global supply chains.
