French forwarder Geodis is strengthening its South American air network through an interline agreement with Atlas Air and mas, reported London's Air Cargo News. The partnership will enhance cargo connectivity across Colombia, Brazil, Panama, Chile and Costa Rica.

Geodis already partners with Atlas on flights from Shanghai and Hong Kong to Guadalajara using Boeing 747-400 freighters. The new agreement is expected to particularly support growth in Brazil, a key market in the region.

Geodis said the deal will allow efficient cargo transfers between flights operated by the three partners. Geodis vice president Henri Le Gouis noted air freight demand in and out of Central and South America has grown by more than 30 per cent over the past year.

Atlas Air chief commercial officer Richard Broekman said the agreement strengthens connectivity across South America and supports cross-border supply chains. Mas chief executive Robert Van De Weg added that collaboration will deliver greater flexibility and reliability for customers.

In October, Geodis marked its 500th successful flight with Atlas Air from Asia to Mexico. Operated since 2019, the dedicated freighter service provides consistent cargo solutions, with weekly flights from Shanghai and Hong Kong to Guadalajara.
