The New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, a major logistics route linking western China to global markets, has moved more than 5 million TEUs of cargo as of Saturday, reports Beijing's China Daily.
The corridor connects the Silk Road Economic Belt in the north with the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road in the south, coordinating with the Yangtze River Economic Belt said the China Railway Nanning Group. Since its pilot run in 2017, it has become a strategic route linking China's inland provinces with ASEAN and other global markets.
Cargo volume this year has reached 1.31 million TEU, up more than 50 per cent year on year. Zhong Chaowen, of the Guangxi Yanhai Railway, said while the first million TEU took over four years, the fifth million was achieved in just 240 days, showing the corridor's rapid growth.
Since early 2025, exports have mainly included chemicals, machinery parts and new energy vehicles, while imports have consisted of bauxite, coal and grain. In the first three quarters, western regions recorded CNY611.5 billion (US$86.4 billion) in trade via the corridor, a 19.3 per cent rise, lifting overall regional foreign trade growth by 3.4 per cent.
