Greek tanker operator Super-Eco Tankers Management has placed an order for up to four MR product and chemical tankers in China, its first newbuild investment in more than two years, reported Singapore's Splash 247.

The Piraeus-based company signed a 2+1+1 order for 41,000 dwt MR tankers at Yangzhou Guoyu Shipbuilding, with delivery of the firm pair scheduled for 2028. Prices were not disclosed.

The order comes after a fleet renewal programme by the Tomasos family-controlled firm, which currently manages nine modern tankers. Its last newbuilding was delivered in 2022 from Hyundai's Vietnamese yard.

Super-Eco is the third Greek shipowner to order at Yangzhou Guoyu since the yard resumed operations under new ownership in 2021. The facility has been attracting renewed interest from foreign owners following restructuring.

Earlier this year, Conbulk ordered two 5,000-TEU containerships at the yard, while Chartworld Shipping, owned by the Kollakis family, signed for up to eight 3,100-TEU feeders. In August, MC Group also announced an option order for four 50,000-dwt product tankers valued at more than US$200 million.
