DHL Global Forwarding has named Justin Cheong as Head of Air Freight in South Africa, where he will oversee strategy, growth and operations from Johannesburg, reported Johannesburg's IT News Africa.

Mr Cheong brings extensive international experience in air freight management across Asia, the Middle East and Africa. His appointment underscores DHL's commitment to strengthening trade links between South Africa, Greater China and global markets.

Before joining DHL, he was country head of air freight at Scan Global Logistics in Taiwan, leading projects in aviation, automotive and e-commerce, as well as transshipment initiatives connecting Asia to Eastern Europe. He has also held senior roles at DB Schenker Indonesia, dnata Singapore, Cathay Pacific Airways, Singapore Airlines Cargo and Etihad Cargo.

Shabnum Dawood, country manager of DHL Global Forwarding South Africa, said Mr Cheong's knowledge of Asian trade corridors will help expand regional capabilities and reinforce South Africa's role as a gateway. She highlighted the company's focus on agile, sustainable and digitally enabled logistics solutions.
