Pony AI will expand its robotaxi fleet to 3,000 vehicles next year after reporting strong growth in autonomous passenger services in its first earnings release since completing a dual listing in Hong Kong, reported Caixin.

The Chinese autonomous driving startup said the expansion highlights its push to scale operations and improve unit economics, despite widening losses and a falling share price following its Hong Kong debut.

Listed on Nasdaq and the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, Pony AI reported third-quarter robotaxi revenue rose 89.5 per cent year on year to CNY47.7 million (US$6.7 million). As of November 23, the company operated 961 robotaxis, up from 270 at the end of 2024 and 726 in late October.

The surge in fleet size is driven by mass production of its seventh-generation vehicles, built with BAIC Group's Arcfox unit and GAC Aion. Some 667 units have already been produced.

Pony AI said the cost of its autonomous driving system has fallen 70 per cent compared with the prior generation, with a further 20 per cent reduction expected by 2026. The vehicles are currently deployed in Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Beijing.
