Lufthansa Cargo and CEVA Logistics have converted their summer Memorandum of Understanding on Sustainable Aviation Fuel into a binding agreement that runs until 2028. The deal was signed in Paris on November 21 and will credit CEVA with 8,000 tons of CO2 reductions in 2025, reports Philippines' Airline News.

The agreement commits CEVA to using SAF sourced from waste materials, backed by audited sustainability certificates. Both companies said the deal underscores their commitment to transparent and verifiable decarbonisation.

Loic Gay, CEVA's Global Air & Ocean Products vice president, said the agreement enables measurable CO2 reductions and more sustainable supply chains. He added that transparency and reliable certifications were key to the partnership.

Lufthansa Cargo's head of global markets Anand Kulkarni said CEVA's decision to make extensive use of SAF showed a clear commitment to decarbonising air freight. He described the agreement as a solid foundation for further progress.

The SAF used is palm oil-free, derived from waste and residual materials, and meets international standards. Emission reductions are confirmed through audited certificates and proof of sustainability.

The deal also structures future cooperation on SAF and expands the companieswider sustainability partnership, which includes knowledge sharing, circular economy solutions and joint innovation initiatives.
