Glasgow Prestwick Airport has signed a new agreement with Beijing Capital Airlines to operate a regular freighter service to Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport, reported Singapore's Payload Asia.

The first flight, operated by an Airbus A330-243 (P2F), arrived on October 16, marking the start of a four-times-weekly schedule. Beijing Capital becomes the third cargo airline to tap into Prestwick's potential in the past six months.

Each flight will carry e-commerce and general cargo inbound to the UK, and premium goods such as Scottish salmon and whisky outbound to China. The service aims to support high-value exports and strengthen trade links.

Prestwick Airport CEO Ian Forgie said the new partnership expands capacity and frequency, offering UK exporters a new gateway into mainland China.

The deal is part of Prestwick's long-term cargo strategy to build sustainable, high-frequency routes connecting UK exporters with major global markets. The airport is positioning itself as a leading hub for China trade and e-commerce.
