China has authorised three additional biofuel refiners to export sustainable aviation fuel, potentially boosting shipments to Europe, reported Reuters.

Shandong Haike Chemical, Shandong Sanju Bioenergy and EcoCeres were granted export quotas totalling 788,000 to 828,000 tonnes annually, according to trade sources and consultancy JLC.

Shandong Haike received 370,000 tonnes, Sanju Bioenergy 158,000 tonnes, and EcoCeres between 260,000 and 300,000 tonnes. The new approvals bring China's total SAF export quota for 2025 to around 1.2 million tonnes.

Zhejiang Jiaao Enprotech was the first firm to receive a SAF export permit and shipped its initial cargo in May. It is unclear whether quota holders must reapply in 2026.

Europe, the second-largest aviation fuel market, has yet to mandate SAF use, but Chinese producers are expanding capacity and targeting the region for exports.

China's Ministry of Commerce, which issues the quotas, did not respond to Reuters' request for comment.
