British Airways is planning to expand its Indian network by adding a third daily service from London Heathrow to Delhi, while upgrading passenger experience across its existing routes, reported Montreal's Simple Flying.
First class service will return to Mumbai this month, and by the end of 2026, all five Indian routes will feature the airline's Club Suite business class cabin. The enhancements reflect BA commitment to strengthening its presence in the Indian market.
Industry observers suggest Amritsar Sri Guru Ram Das Ji International Airport (ATQ) as a logical next destination. The airport previously had direct links to Heathrow via Air Canada and BMI, and Air India currently operates flights from Birmingham, with Gatwick services resuming soon.
Adding Amritsar to BA network would increase competition on the route and offer Punjabi travellers more options for onward connections through Heathrow. The move could also support diaspora travel and boost regional connectivity.
British Airways has not confirmed new destinations beyond Delhi, but its recent upgrades signal a broader strategy to capture growing demand in India aviation sector. Further announcements may follow as market conditions evolve.
