Tan Son Nhat Cargo Services Joint Stock Company (TCS) handled its first cargo flight for Turkish Cargo on October 1, marking the start of a strategic partnership after more than a year of negotiations, reported Hanoi's VnExpress.
The deal highlights Vietnam's growing role in global air cargo logistics. Turkish Cargo, the freight arm of Turkish Airlines, operates across more than 120 countries and selected TCS for its technical expertise and certified infrastructure.
Under the agreement, TCS will manage end-to-end cargo handling, including hazardous and specialised materials, at its state-of-the-art terminal at Tan Son Nhat International Airport. The facility meets top safety and quality standards.
TCS is recognised by the International Air Transport Association as a certified training provider and regularly conducts hazardous materials training for staff from both companies.
The co-location of Turkish Airlines' representative office within the TCS terminal enhances operational efficiency and enables seamless collaboration. TCS uses automated cargo handling systems to reduce delivery times and optimize logistics costs.
As a core subsidiary of Vietnam Airlines Group, TCS plays a key role in the national carrier's logistics supply chain. The partnership boosts Vietnam Airlines' international cargo capacity and supports its long-term strategy to position Vietnam as a regional logistics hub.
The upcoming opening of Long Thanh International Airport is expected to further strengthen cooperation between Turkish Airlines, TCS and other partners, including Singapore Airport Terminal Services.
TCS general director Nguyen Thuan Dien said the partnership affirms the company's technical capabilities and service quality. TCS plans continued investment in infrastructure, automation and workforce development to maintain its global competitiveness.
