UPS has restarted air cargo operations at its Worldport hub in Louisville following a temporary shutdown caused by a fatal aircraft accident, reported New York's TheStreet.

The company confirmed in a service alert that it is making operational adjustments to realign shipments originally scheduled for delivery on 6 and 7 November. The UPS Service Guarantee has been suspended for all US shipments until further notice.

Delivery times for UPS Next Day Air Early and Worldwide Express Plus services to the US will be extended by 90 minutes. Other time-definite services will now be delivered by end-of-day on the guaranteed date.

UPS said it remains committed to ensuring shipments reach their destinations quickly and safely. "Our airline's first duty is recovery, aid and victim support," the company stated.

The Worldport hub is central to UPS's global air freight network, handling 300 daily flights and over 400,000 packages per hour. It employs 20,000 workers and can reach 95 per cent of the US population within four hours by air.

UPS serves over 10.1 million customers across more than 200 countries and territories. Major clients include Amazon, Walmart and Target, with over 150 companies storing inventory at the hub.

The brief suspension caused widespread delays and rerouting of shipments, affecting retailers and e-commerce platforms. Analysts say such disruptions can lead to financial losses and strained supplier relationships.

"We just don't expect our logistics operations to have a calamity or even a bad day," said University of Tennessee supply chain expert Tom Goldsby.
