Taiwan's Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation has signed a contract with Hanwha Ocean to build seven 16,000 TEU LNG dual-fuel container vessels, reported Marine Link.

The ships are expected to be delivered between 2028 and 2029. They will be the first in Taiwan to feature ammonia fuel ready specifications.

Each vessel will be fitted with a Type-B LNG fuel tank designed for 1.0 bar pressure. The tank was developed jointly by Hanwha Ocean and ABS, and is said to improve safety and operational efficiency over the standard 0.7 bar design.

The new tank design also supports compliance with anticipated shore-power regulations, according to the companies.

Yang Ming is also expecting five 15,500 TEU LNG dual-fuel container ships, scheduled for delivery beginning in 2026.
