A tanker carrying liquefied natural gas from Russia's Arctic LNG 2 project has discharged its cargo at a Chinese port, continuing deliveries despite Western sanctions, reports New York's Offshore Engineer.
The 116,779 gross ton La Perouse tanker arrived at the Beihai LNG Terminal in Guangxi on October 9, after loading at Arctic LNG 2 in late August. It departed the terminal the following day.
Equasis lists the vessel's registered owner as Enson Shipping Inc and its ship or commercial manager as Tanama LLC.
Arctic LNG 2 is 60 per cent owned by Russian gas producer Novatek and was expected to produce 19.8 million metric tons annually before being sanctioned by the United States over Russia's war in Ukraine.
PipeChina, which operates the Beihai terminal, did not respond to requests for comment. Reuters was unable to locate contact details for the tanker's owner and manager at the time of loading.
Previous cargo discharges from Arctic LNG 2 have also gone unacknowledged by PipeChina.
