FedEx has launched a new 2,700 sq m facility at Bilbao Airport, significantly increasing its handling capacity and operational efficiency in Spain, reports London's Air Cargo News.

The new site includes nearly 2,000 sq m more warehouse space than the previous location and 400 sq m of modern office space across two floors. It features 27 loading docks, up from seven, and can sort up to 1,500 packages per hour.

Ian Silverton, managing director of ground operations for FedEx Spain and Portugal, said the investment enhances service offerings and supports customers' international growth.

The Bilbao station complements existing facilities in Vitoria and San Sebastian, including an air gateway in Vitoria that provides next-day connectivity to Europe and America. Combined, these sites can sort up to 6,000 packages per hour.

FedEx's Spanish network includes five air gateways in Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Valencia and Vitoria, two road hubs in Madrid and Barcelona, and 26 operational stations nationwide.
