A US Postal Service worker was critically injured after being shot in the face by an Amazon delivery driver during an altercation at an apartment complex in Everett, Washington, reported New York's FreightWaves.

The incident occurred Friday afternoon at West Mall Place Apartments. The victim was first taken to Providence Hospital and later transferred to Harbor View Medical Center in critical condition, according to Everett Police.

Witnesses said the dispute began when the USPS worker restricted access to mailboxes, prompting an argument with the Amazon driver. The confrontation escalated into a shoving match before the shooting occurred.

Social media posts and KOMO TV footage showed both a USPS van and an Amazon vehicle behind police tape. The Amazon van was later towed from the scene.

A US postal inspector confirmed the mail carrier was shot in the face following a confrontation. The suspect was taken into custody in Snohomish County jail.

The US Postal Inspection Service and the FBI are investigating the case. No further details about the suspect or charges have been released.
