At least three LNG tankers have diverted from Belgium's Zeebrugge terminal due to a Greenpeace blockade protesting European Union imports of Russian gas, reports Reuters.

LSEG data showed the Megara and Rias Baixas Knutsen, both carrying US cargo, and the LNG Phecda, loaded with Russian gas, changed course. The Arctic Voyager from Norway may also face delays.

Belgium is the EU's second-largest importer of Russian LNG, receiving 2.3 million tonnes in the first eight months of the year, behind France's four million tons.

Greenpeace began its protest using kayaks, liferafts and a sailing boat to block terminal access. The action is expected to continue until Sunday, said operator Fluxys.

Fluxys confirmed no impact on terminal operations or output flow. Ships not bound for the LNG terminal have not been interrupted but are advised to proceed cautiously.

The Arctic Voyager was due with the other tankers expected later in the week, according to LSEG.

The EU plans to ban Russian LNG imports a year earlier than scheduled under its 19th sanctions package against Moscow, following pressure from US President Donald Trump.
