Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore has confirmed the delivery of the CMA CGM Seine, a 24,000-TEU LNG dual-fuel containership built by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding, reports New York's Marine Link.
The vessel is the first in a four-ship series and forms part of CMA CGM low-carbon strategy. It features a dual-fuel propulsion system supported by GTT Mark III membrane-type LNG bunker tanks with a total capacity of 18,600 cubic metres.
Measuring 399.9 metres in length and 61.3 metres in beam, the ship is equipped with a WinGD W12X92DF-2.0 engine using the Intelligent Control by Exhaust Recycling (iCER) system to reduce methane emissions and meet IMO Tier III standards.
Bureau Veritas issued the Engine International Air Pollution Prevention certificate after testing the parent engine, laying the groundwork for compliance across the series. The iCER system also improves energy efficiency and EEDI performance.
To address sloshing risks in the LNG tanks, BV Solutions Marine & Offshore conducted computational fluid dynamics simulations and provided pressure data for structural checks.
The vessel includes SmartEye and TotalCommand systems for automated berthing control, reducing port time. Variable frequency drive technology is applied to engine room fans and cooling pumps to enhance energy efficiency.
The WinGD Data Collection Monitoring system enables real-time engine tracking and analysis. BV also upgraded boil-off gas compressors through sea trials and re-certification, ensuring smooth commissioning and delivery.
