A joint enforcement operation by the Oklahoma Corporation Commission, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and state public safety officers led to the arrest of 130 commercial drivers along I-40, reports Pennsylvania's Commercial Carrier Journal.

The three-day effort focused on CDL drivers and trucks licensed in California. All arrests were made by Department of Public Safety officers, though OCC did not disclose the specific violations.

OCC chairwoman Kim David said the operation aimed to remove non-compliant and dangerous drivers from Oklahoma roads, enhancing highway safety through coordinated law enforcement.

The Beckham County Port of Entry was selected due to its high traffic volume. Between July 2024 and June 2025, nearly 1.4 million trucks crossed into Oklahoma at this location.

Commissioner Todd Hiett said Ports of Entry are often the first stop for incoming truckers. Officers use technology and training to assess drivers, issue fines, or conduct further inspections.

Commissioner Brian Bingman said the operation was prompted by concerns over illegal immigrants obtaining CDLs in other states. He warned that language barriers could lead to accidents and pose risks to Oklahoma drivers.

OCC also cited the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration new rule, amending licensing regulations for non-domiciled CDL holders.
