Houthi forces in Yemen have declared sanctions against leading energy companies, shipping firms and crude oil tankers involved in US oil exports, citing a ban issued in May, reported Fort Lauderdale's Maritime Executive.
ExxonMobil, Chevron, Phillips 66, Marathon, Conoco, Valero and others, along with their chief executives, were accused of facilitating the export, re-export, transport and sale of US crude oil, including ship-to-ship transfers and third-party transactions.
Diamond S Shipping was also listed, with the Houthis singling out two of its Marshall Islands-flagged tankers: Seaways San Saba and Seaways Brazos, each 159,000 deadweight tonnes and built in 2012. Both vessels are currently en route to South America.
The statement did not specify why these ships or Diamond S were included. In previous announcements, the Houthis have targeted shipping firms linked to Israel through investment or port activity.
Although the group continues to threaten US warships in the Red Sea, no direct attacks have been reported since the earlier ceasefire and subsequent US strikes on Houthi positions.
Only a limited number of commercial vessels have been targeted in 2025, with most Houthi missile and drone attacks directed at Israel, prompting retaliatory bombing raids.
