Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) has inaugurated an 80,000 square-foot cargo facility by F&F LLC, marking the first development at its Global Logistics Park, reports the North Kentucky Tribune.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony featured remarks from CVG leadership and the Kentucky Governor's office, highlighting the facility's role in expanding regional air cargo capabilities.

The new building offers direct airside access, dedicated cargo processing space and 18 truck docks. Partners Fred Murphy and Frank Tamanko invested in the project to support current and future general freight needs.

Lisa Sauer, chairwoman of the Kenton County Airport Board, said the facility diversifies CVG's cargo operations and strengthens its position as a regional cargo leader, creating jobs and economic growth.

CEO Larry Krauter said the project reflects CVG's vision to build a self-sustaining aviation ecosystem. The logistics park separates cargo from passenger traffic and enhances efficiency and security.

The US$15 million project received $3.6 million in Kentucky site development funds and leveraged over $33 million in federal infrastructure support to rebuild the nearby airside ramp.

While CVG is a hub for Amazon Air and DHL Express, which handle express cargo, the F&F facility expands general freight capabilities for items like textiles, machinery parts and household goods.

Future developments at the logistics park will allow freight forwarders and general cargo users to base operations at CVG and move goods globally.

CVG welcomed 9.2 million travellers in 2024 and offers over 55 nonstop destinations. It hosts transatlantic flights to London and Paris and contributes $10.5 billion annually to the local economy.
