Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD expects international sales to account for 20 per cent of its global deliveries this year, driven by improved logistics and new model launches, reports Hong Kong's South China Morning Post.

The Shenzhen firm forecasts between 800,000 and 1 million deliveries outside mainland China in 2025, out of a projected total of 4.6 million units, according to Li Yunfei, general manager of branding and public relations.

In 2024, overseas sales made up less than 10 per cent of BYD's 4.26 million total deliveries. Mr Li said the company's own fleet of car-carrier ships has helped boost exports.

BYD now operates eight large vessels, the biggest of which can carry 9,200 vehicles. These ships connect China with key overseas markets including Europe and Southeast Asia.
