HONG Kong's Marine Department is investigating a collision between two ships that knocked three containers into the sea.

There were no injuries or oil spills from the collision at Kwai Tsing Container Terminals last Friday, according to Hong Kong's South China Morning Post.

According to the Marine Department, a container vessel which was going to berth at the terminal was involved in a minor collision with a docked ship. The department was informed of the incident at 8.40 pm.

Reports say one of the ships is owned by Japanese shipping company ONE, and it had left Shenzhen Chiwan before the incident happened. The blue-hulled vessel docked at the terminal suffered some damage.

At least one metal crane was seen floating nearby while the three fallen containers were retrieved.
