PORT operator and logistics major, Hamburger Hafen und Logistik (HHLA) posted a 65 per cent year-on-year net profit increase in 2024 to EUR33 million (US$34.4 million), drawn on revenues of EUR1.6 billion, up 10.5 per cent.

Operating result (EBIT) increased by 22.7 per cent to EUR134 million, falling within the projected range of EUR125 million to EUR145 million.

Container throughput at HHLA's seaport terminals rose slightly by 0.9 per cent to 5.97 million TEU compared to 5.91 TEU in 2023.

Throughput at the Hamburg terminals remained largely stable at 5.6 million TEU. The intermodal segment experienced strong growth, with transport volume increasing by 11.6 per cent to 1.7 million TEU.

Said HHLA chief executive Angela Titzrath: "Despite ongoing geopolitical instability, recession in Germany and supply chain disruptions, we pushed ahead with the strategic development in 2024."
