THE Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has released a preliminary report on the December 11, 2024, crash of an Allied Air Boeing 737-400 Freighter at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, reports Lagos Punch newspaper.

En route to collect cargo for the Central Bank of Nigeria, the aircraft suffered a flap malfunction during the final approach.

Unable to deploy beyond Flaps 15, the aircraft landed at 157 knots, causing the right landing gear to detach and the No 2 engine nacelle to drag along the runway.

Despite significant damage, all crew members escaped unharmed.

The NSIB recommended immediate inspections of Allied Air's fleet, focusing on flap and landing gear systems.

    Further investigations are ongoing.
