CONTAINER movement at Chattogram Port has been suspended following a clash between prime mover workers and security staff at DC Park, reports Dhaka Daily Star.

The altercation led drivers to halt operations, disrupting the flow of export and import containers between the port and 21 private inland container depots (ICDs).

The disruption forced a Singapore-bound vessel, the 5,930-TEU Helgoland, to depart without 101 TEU of export cargo, while another ship, 2,600-TEU AS Sicilia, delayed its departure due to missing containers.

The conflict began when a prime mover driver was allegedly assaulted by security personnel after a minor traffic incident, sparking widespread protests and road blockades around the port.
