SINGAPORE's Pacific International Lines (PIL) has named its fourth 14,000 TEU LNG dual-fuel container vessel, the Kota Embun at a Shanghai shipyard ceremony, reports London's Logistics Manager.

The vessel is notable as the first PIL vessel to feature an innovative bow windshield designed to improve aerodynamics and reduce fuel consumption, leading to lower emissions.

Evelyn Ng, wife of PIL deputy chairman Ng Kee Choe, christened the vessel. The name "Kota Embun" translates to "dew" in Malay, symbolizing renewal and harmony with nature, reflecting the vessel's role in promoting sustainable shipping practices.

The Kota Embun is the last of the four 14,000-TEU vessels in PIL's "E" Class series. These vessels, constructed by Jiangnan Shipyard, are the largest in PIL's fleet and the first to operate on Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG).

Said PIL chief executive Lars Kastrup: "We have another 14 new vessels of various capacities, equipped with LNG dual-fuel technology and other advancements."

Since 2022, PIL has ordered a total of 18 newbuild vessels, including four 14,000 TEU, four 8,000 TEU, five 13,000 TEU, and five 9,000 TEU vessels.
