These must be bolstered by anti-corruption measures as well as stakeholder engagement, to build trust, transparency and accountability if one is to operate in the European Union.

With the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in place, NVOCCs handling customer data must ensure that robust data protection measures are in place.Adequate insurance coverage is mandatory to protect against cargo loss, damage and other liabilities.

NVOCCs must operate within the framework of EU competition laws, avoiding practices like price-fixing or market monopolisation.
