DUE to ongoing congestion at the Port of Beira in Mozambique, which has created challenging operational conditions, CMA CGM has announced the implementation of a Port Congestion Surcharge (PCS) effective from December 22, 2024.
The surcharge will apply to shipments originating from the Far East, including China, Hong Kong & Macau SAR, Northeast Asia, and Southeast Asia, and destined for Beira, Mozambique.
The surcharge amount will be US$270 per TEU for all cargo types, according to Greece's Container News.
Moreover, the French carrier announced the implementation of a Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) effective from December 7, 2024, until further notice.
This surcharge will apply to reefer cargo originating from the Far East, including China, Hong Kong & Macau SAR, Northeast Asia, and Southeast Asia, and destined for Ecuador. The surcharge amount will be $1,000 per container.
