SINGAPORE's APL, a subsidiary of French shipping giant CMA CGM, has announced the launch of the North Atlantic Service (NAS), expanding its offerings in the Trans-Atlantic trade.

"NAS promises market leading transit times as it serves the major North European markets and the US East Coast. For instance, a cargo from London to New York will be delivered in 12 days while shipments on board the NAS from Le Havre to Miami will arrive in 13 days," APL said.

APL will join its parent company's RTWPAN container loop in January. The NAS will commence sailing from London on January 3 calling Zeebrugge, London, Rotterdam, Dunkirk, Le Havre, New York, Savannah, Miami, Savannah, Philadelphia and back to Zeebrugge.

The service sails with seven vessels with an average capacity of 2,667 TEU, with CMA CGM operating four vessels, Seatrade Maritime providing two vessels, and Marfret providing one vessel, according to ocean carrier schedule and capacity database BlueWater Reporting, American Shipper reported.

CMA CGM subsidiary ANL purchases slots on the loop as well.
