Seattle, Tacoma up 6pc to 2.45 million TEU in first 10 months

THE Northwest Seaport Alliance (NWSA) posted a six per cent year-on-year increase in container volume through Seattle and Tacoma in the first 10 months of the year to 2.45 million TEU.
Year-to-date import volumes were up two per cent year on year to 1.25 million TEU, while exports rose 10 per cent to 1.2 million TEU, reported American Shipper.
But the alliance's total volumes in October declined by two per cent year on year, with imports down six per cent to 119,943 TEU.
On the other hand, October's export throughput was up one per cent year on year to 120,196 TEU, while empty exports surged 46 per cent.
