RUSSIA's AirBridgeCargo Airlines (ABC) has posted a 15 per cent year-on-year increase in air freight in the first 10 months of the year to 575,000 tonnes, reports the American Journal of Transportation.
The company reported an upsurge in all major markets and a positive outlook through the end of the year. ABC's load factor rose four per cent to 74 per cent.
ABC attributed its growth to the successful realisation of its fleet expansion strategy, the development of special cargo solutions and the introduction of new destinations.
The company's volume growth was facilitated by increasing bi-directional trade flows on the Europe-Asia lane, where exports from Europe to Asia were nearing the level of volumes from Asia to Europe, with 36 per cent and 37 per cent respectively.
The freight corridors demonstrating significant growth rates for this period were south east Asia-North America, up 53 per cent; south east Asia-Europe, up 52 per cent; Europe-Japan and Korea, up 49 per cent and Europe-North America, up 23 per cent.
The airline achieved strong gains in its special cargoes volumes, with temperature-controlled pharma shipments heading the list (+153 per cent), off-size & heavy (+32 per cent), e-commerce (+22 per cent) and dangerous goods (+10 per cent).
"We have approached peak season well prepared with a recently-deployed new Boeing 747-8F to ensure sufficient capacity," said ABC general director Sergey Lazarev.
"Our well balanced network and newly-integrated destinations provide extensive transportation connections and cater to the needs of customers worldwide, with connectivity options through our hub in Moscow Sheremetyevo airport," he said.
