AD Ports invests in VTMIS to boost maritime safety and security

ABU Dhabi-headquartered AD Ports Group will roll out a cutting-edge Vessel Traffic Management Information System (VTMIS) across its activities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as part of its ongoing investment programme in innovative solutions to improve safety, security, and productivity.
The new technology will be implemented at UAE's Khalifa Port, Zayed Port, Free Port, Musaffah Port and Al Dhafra region ports, reports Container News.
Once applied, the new technology is expected to improve AD Ports Group's ability to directly monitor cargo from the command centre at Khalifa Port in areas up to 300 kilometres away.
This initiative is AD Ports Group's newest move to implement advanced digital solutions in the country. Additionally, the development of an advanced and completely integrated VTMIS is a critical requirement for creating an improved Ports Community System (PCS) and ensuring the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS), according to AD Ports Group.
Furthermore, the system ensures the integration and linking of all assets in a port and marine environment by combining tools like radar, CCTV, radios, meteorological systems, radio direction finders, and towers. This gives port managers real-time data and enhances vessel-to-vessel and vessel-to-shore contact.
