Gdansk saw box volumes rise 15.5pc in first 9 months of 2017

POLAND's big Port of Gdansk saw the first nine months' container volume rise 15.5 per cent year on year to 1,123,506 TEU, while overall cargo throughput including boxes only rose two per cent to 28.4 million tonnes.
General cargo including lumber increased 18.2 per cent year on year to 12.7 million tonnes while container tonnage was up 14.9 per cent to 11.5 million tonnes.
Liquid bulk increased 5.6 per cent to 9.04 million tonnes, but coal was down 12.2 per cent to 3.3 million tonnes and other dry bulk was off 7.2 to 2.6 million tonnes as grain fell 24.7 per cent to 604,700 tonnes.
