Asia-Europe rate rises 5pc to US$729/TEU, up 7.3pc to USWC

SPOT rates for shipping containers from Asia to northern Europe in the week ending Friday rose five per cent to US$729 per TEU, according to the Shanghai Containerised Freight Index (SCFI).
Asia-Mediterranean trade inched up 0.8 per cent to $598 per TEU. Asia to the US west coast increased 7.3 per cent week on week to $1,177 per FEU while those to the east coast surged 13.1 per cent to $1,901 per FEU.
