BMWTech conference takes place in London December 12-14

THE 13th annual BWMTech Conference will take place at London's Grange Tower Bridge Hotel December 12-14 to help untangle international ballast regulations.
Experts will discuss successful system installations and describe practical ballast water treatment strategies.
The conference will bring 100 industry professionals together, 40 per cent will be shipowners, providing a chance to meet people who share problems and others who can provide solutions.
The conference is organised by Paris-based Global Maritime Hub.
Last year's delegates included Maersk, Algoma Central Corporation, BG Group Bibby Subsea, Carnival Cruise Line, Crowley, CSL International Ltd, Disney Cruise Lines, Genco Shipping and Trading Limited among others.
Among the topics discussed will be crew competency at handling ballast water treatment systems. Training needs will be discussed and how to cope with systems' failures.
There will be workshops looking at policy, regulation and expected regulatory developments, providing a chance for delegates to question policy makers.
Also discussed will be implementation deadlines and the financial demands involved. At this point, short- and long-term options will be discussed.
