Regional Container Lines orders two 1,668-TEU feeders from China

INTRA-ASIA specialist Regional Container Lines (RCL) has placed an order of two 1,668-TEU ships at China's Jinagsu New Yangzi Shipbuilding, across the Yangtze River from Shanghai.
The total contract value of the order is US$39.2 million and delivery of the vessels is schedule for April and July 2019, reports Singapore's Splash 24/7.
Thai-owned RCL said the new vessels will replace existing vessels in the fleet as part of its continuous effort to upgrade the fleet with new and efficient tonnage to serve regional customers.
Currently RCL operates a fleet of 39 feeder boxships with an additional four already under construction at New Yangzi Shipbuilding.
